PANFEST stands with trans people in Alberta.
Bill 26 (The Health Statutes Amendment Act) is one of three laws targeting the trans community in Alberta that the Alberta government seeks to implement:
- The Education Amendment Act, Bill 27, requires parental consent for children under 16 to change their names or pronouns at school, and requires parental opt-in for their kids to be taught lessons on sexuality, sexual orientation and gender identity.
- Parents can already opt-out of sexual education.
- Children have a right to change their names and/or pronouns at school without parental consent.

- The Fairness and Safety in Sports Act, Bill 29, — banning transgender athletes from competing in female mature sports. Sports organizations will also be required to report eligibility complaints to the government.
- This is a pointless scapegoating and attack on trans people.
- This opens to door to policing gender and sex regardless of identity and exposes athletes to inspection of their genitals.
