PANFEST has a mandate to promote the safety of all people, both close to home and abroad. As Pagans, we recognize the value and dignity of life and hold sacred our duty to protect it. PANFEST stands with the victims of armed conflict around the world.
Recent international events have reminded us yet again of the horrible realities of war. Most recently, we are witnessing egregious violations of the human rights of 42 million Ukrainian citizens, through the disruption of life, destruction of property, and the taking of lives.
We cannot in good conscience witness these transgressions and stay silent.
PANFEST recognizes that this is the first time we have publicly taken a stance on international issues. We also recognize that armed conflict disproportionately affects racialized groups, though these conflicts do not often get the same level of attention as others. The decision to speak up now reflects a broader understanding of our mandate, and should not be interpreted as prioritizing any one set of victims over another. We stand against all acts that violate human rights.
We invite our members to take action to support victims of armed conflict within your home communities, such as advocating for additional funding for refugee mental health services.
We extend our support to all those affected.
Blessed Be
