Why I volunteer at the stadium

I’ve been volunteering since we started this gig at the stadium, with the ice cream carts. Since taking on the concession, the shifts have gotten longer, and our need for volunteers has gotten greater. It has also become more fun, because I get to work side by side with some pretty awesome people. I even get to meet new people as my fellow volunteer bring in their friends and family when we’ve been short staffed. It is work, for sure, but work with this great group seems to fly by as we laugh and work together.

I enjoy knowing that the time I spend doing this helps Panfest, to keep prices down, bring in special guests, potentially pay my registration with my volunteer hours, and host community events. I think, however, for me, the thing I appreciate the most is that this also provides opportunities for other groups within the pagan community to get a piece of the pie, so to speak, by having a few folks come volunteer as well. It’s an opportunity for everybody, which is cool.

Oh, yeah, and they feed me, which for me is ALWAYS a bonus!
