3Sokende – Chair

Sokende has been practicing Paganism since she was a teenager. She started the public Women’s Mysteries Circle in 2005, to provide community and a safe space for Pagan and Pagan-Friendly Women. Sokende is committed to her work as the Chair for PANFEST, because this community has been such a big part of her life for nearly twenty years.

Sokende is a self-taught wire wrap artist known for her stunning handmade jewelry. She is a lover of frogs, Lord of the Rings, and family movie nights. Her idea of a perfect holiday is one spent huddled around a board game with her husband and kids.

Term: re-elected 2023, term ends at November 2025.

Lisa – Vice Chair

Lisa attended her first Lughnasadh Festival Weekend in 2022 and quickly fell in love with the community. In her spare time, you can find her walking or hiking with her two dogs in the Sturgeon River Valley, taking pictures, writing, sewing or doing yarn crafts. In the summer, she also gardens which allows her to spend as much time she can connecting with nature. She has served previously as Events Coordinator.

Term: elected 2023, term ends at November 2025.

Candy – Treasurer

Candy (she/her) is the proud mother of two incredible kids who she shares her pagan spiritual path with. She has been practicing paganism since she had a name to define it in her late teens, combining her Indigenous spirituality into a path that honours Gaia and is influenced and guided by the Norse pantheon. She helped start SpiralScouts, a pagan based scouting group and led it with her partner for quite a few years, evolving it from the original format to one more closely following the paths of the families engaged. Candy has been involved in organizing the Beltaine Faire forever and is committed to building community for herself, her family and the broader pagan community. Candy started attending PANFEST when her eldest was 18 months old and has been on the board for over a decade, in the role as family coordinator and now Treasurer.

In her “free time”, Candy loves to sit around a fire, share stories, and cheer her kids on whether it is them riding a horse or performing in musicals…she also has a passion for performing.

Term: re-elected 2024, term ends at November 2026.

Jessie – Membership Coordinator

My name is Jessie and I attended my first Panfest weekend in 2022. I was so moved by the community and experience in 2023 that I decided to become more involved and joined the board.

I am a mother of 3 grown children who are my world. I love everything horror, body modification of all types, spending time with my family and playing with my kooky husky.

My favorite things are rocks and crystals and I incorporate them into my practice whenever I can.

I am a first degree initiated witch with the former Wiccan Tradition Evergreen in Calgary.

I am always interested in hearing about others paths and practices and I look forward to hearing from all of you!

Term: elected 2023, term ends at November 2025.

Emma – Public Relations

Emma (she/they) is a 20-something year old settler and university student, and has been a practicing Pagan for most of their life. Her practice is individual and eclectic, drawing on her Norse and Celtic roots. Emma has been serving on the PANFEST Board since 2020 — as YYA Program Coordinator, Web Presence Coordinator, and now PR.

Emma is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Science at the University of Alberta. She is majoring in Biological Sciences with a Minor in Indigenous Studies. In their spare time, Emma likes to read, bake, and make weird art. They’re also a bit of an aquarium fanatic, and she’s always down to “talk fish” with anyone willing to listen!

Rose – Family Program Coordinator

Hello. My spirit name is Rose and I’m excited to be your Family Program Coordinator. I look forward to being able to help our members of all ages enrich their experiences and grow within our Pagan community.

I attended my first Panfest weekend in 2006 and found my community. I decided that I wanted to be more involved, so in 2014 I joined the Board as Kitchen Witch. I held this position for a few years and enjoyed coordinating the provision of yummy food at Panfest events. After a little break, I returned to the Board as a Member At Large and helped wherever I was needed.

And now I’m excited to try something new as the Family Program Coordinator. I look forward to greeting old friends and meeting new members.

Term: elected 2023, term ends November 2025.

Maddy – YYA Program Coordinator

Maddy is a 20 year old immunology student at the University of Alberta. They are a casual, empathetic Pagan and the Youth and Young Adult Coordinator for the PANFEST Pagan Festival Society. Their favourite colour is green, they have a cat named Noodles, and hates sneezing.

In their spare time, Maddy loves to bake, sculpt and paint. In addition to creating an educational, empowering space for Pagan youth, they would absolutely love to see pictures of your pets or talk about biology.

Hawthorn – Stream Coordinator

My name’s Hawthorn, I’m the Stream Coordinator.

I never know what to put in these. When I do, they inevitably come across really dry because I do literary analysis in my time-that-I’m-not-doing-this, so I can’t help but get a little obsessive about ensuring the only possible meaning is what I want it to be.

I promise I’m more interesting and approachable in person.

Term: elected 2024, term ends November 2025.
