Volunteer Duties

Panfest is a community effort and everyone helps out.

In order to keep festival costs minimal, attendees are expected to volunteer their time. All attendees over the age of 12 are required to do a minimum of two one hour shifts of volunteer time.

It's a wonderful opportunity to meet people and make some new friends. Presenting a workshop or ritual is not considered volunteer time. Please indicate your preference for your work shift or one will be assigned to you. Here's what we have available:

Meal Preparation

Chop, slice, dice, stir, mix, etc: whatever needs to be done to prep for the next meal.  And, of course clean up your work space when done.  This is usually done immediately following the meal.  ie. lunch prep is done right after breakfast.

Drinks Person

Hot coffee, water for tea/ hot chocolate/juice/ice, etc.  Make sure we have 'drinkables' for the next meal/snack time.  Make sure drink table is clean at all times.

Kitchen Cleanup

Wash any pots/pans/bowls/utencils that were used in preparing the meal.  Downsize leftover food into smaller containers so that we can have the pots and big bowls for the next meal.  This is done following every meal.

Main Lodge Cleanup

Wipe down tables, sweep/vacuum and mop floors.  Make sure tables are setup for the next meal.

Dishes & Cleanup

Put out 2 stations of 3 pans each for washing dishes.  Make sure plates are scraped, dishes are 1) washed 2) rinsed 3) disinfected...then stacked to dry. And when dry, stacked and put on cart and covered to be ready for next meal.

Kitchen Flunky

Comes in 1/2 hour to 1/4 hour before meal service and sets up buffet table, puts out plates, utensils, condiments, and lights burners.

Late Night Lodge Cleanup

For those night owls who are up after most have drifted away from the lodge. The garbage must be taken out, the tables wiped off, and the floors swept and mopped.

Security

Patrol the area to ensure only registered guests are present. Watch for any sign of trouble.

Medical/first-aid duty

Volunteers must have current certification

Washroom and Shower Cleanup

Clean sinks, toilets, and showers. Sweep and mop floors, ensure supplies are topped off.

PanFest Kids Area

There will be some daily children's activity time provided in the form of children's workshops and activities so the parents have an opportunity to have some free time to attend workshops and seminars. So, if you wish to present a kids workshop or ritual, please let us know in the space provided on the back of the registration form. All parents using child program will be required to volunteer an additional hour in this area.

Children's Activity Program

To assist the childcare providers we encourage all parents with children participating in the program to lend a hand and do an extra volunteer shift assisting with the program. Please note that the children's activity program runs for only 4 hours each day.

  • NOTE: This is not a babysitting service.  We provide activities for kids to help make Paganism accessible to them, and to try to make sure that they're not bored to tears.
